Traditional and unusual Shrubs, Herbs, Plants and flowers
VEBENA BONARIENSIS No garden, large or small should be without these hassle free plants which, once planted will self seed year after year giving a wonderful show in your garden. Heat and drought tolerant, this is one of my favourite perennials in my wildflower garden. Verbena bonariensis - An erect, clump-forming tender perennial with stiff, widely branched stems, it can reach 3-6' in height with an open, airy spread of 1-3'. This outstanding perennial deserves its popularity. It makes an architectural statement with slender, willowy stems that stand up to 6 feet tall and do not need staking. It then branches out widely near the top where rich lilac-purple flower clusters stand alone, as if they are floating. This Verbena makes a great see-through plant. Noteworthy Characteristics: This genus originates from South America, occurring in open, sunny sites. The flowers are long-blooming. Verbenas are excellent for mixed herbaceous borders. Care:  Provide moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Verbena is a prolific self seeder, making up for its slightly tender nature even if the parent plant does not survive the winter its space will be reliably filled by one of many seedlings that appear around the original. It has been very successful in many challenging parts of a good many gardens, whether its a damp boggy area with very poor drainage or a very dry exposed part of the border. Not only is it extremely reliable but the beautiful lilac flowers are borne for a number of weeks throughout the mid summer into early autumn. Verbena are sold in 3ltr and 5ltr pots                                  Online sales Plants are supplied in 9cm or 1ltr pots
